The mdworkspace Roadmap: Stronger structure, cleaner outputs

What mdworkspace already does well, where the desktop workflow is heading, and why the roadmap stays grounded in practical output.

The mdworkspace roadmap (2026)

mdworkspace started with a simple belief: a lot of important work still begins as text, but text alone is rarely enough to run the full workflow.

The product exists to close that gap. It gives you a cleaner path from rough notes to structured workspaces, research systems, documentation, and deliverables.

What is already strong today

  • Markdown-first drafting with section-level structure
  • Local-first assets and calmer desktop workflows
  • Structured blocks for tables, boards, embeds, formulas, and checklists
  • Export paths that make review, handoff, and archive work easier

What we are pushing further

1. Better operating surfaces

We want the workspace to feel even stronger when the work shifts from drafting into active execution. That means sharper structure, clearer editing flows, and more reliable ways to manage complex documents.

2. Stronger team-oriented workflows

Some work starts solo and later needs alignment, review, or handoff. We are continuing to refine the product around that reality so teams can keep context together longer before the work leaves the workspace.

3. More useful research and analysis patterns

Research gets better when evidence, comparison, and synthesis stay connected. We are leaning harder into that loop so analysts, operators, and writers can move faster without losing clarity.

4. Better starting points

Templates and packs should help people get to a useful workspace faster. We want those starting points to feel practical, adaptable, and close to real working systems.

The part that is not changing

The product should stay grounded in a few non-negotiables:

  • Markdown remains central
  • Portability remains important
  • Local-first workflows remain a core strength
  • New features should help real work ship faster

That is the roadmap in the simplest form: more structure when you need it, without losing the clarity and control that made the workspace useful in the first place.
